Cut, Fill, and Grading Underway on De Soto Progressive Design-Build Project

Progress continues De Soto Local Road Improvements Project in Johnson County, Kansas. Cut, fill, grading, and storm sewer operations are ongoing throughout the corridor with subgrade, base, paving, and bridge activities taking place in the coming months.

The infrastructure improvements, scheduled for completion in 2024, include updating the approximately 4.5 miles of the current two-lane asphalt road to a new divided four-lane roadway with curb, gutter, walking trails, and sidewalks.

The Kansas Department of Transportation has committed to deliver the transportation infrastructure improvements necessary to support the $4 billion Panasonic Energy Co. electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility currently under construction in De Soto.
