Clarkson Connects with Future Industry Leaders at ASCE Student Days

Clarkson recently joined Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City for its Careers in the Trades Networking Day, giving more than a dozen local high school students the opportunity to connect directly with professionals working throughout construction and the skilled trades.
For the second consecutive year, Clarkson Carpenter Superintendent Luke Miller volunteered his time to participate in the event and share his firsthand experience building a career in construction. This year, he was also joined by representatives from Clarkson partner companies Hoy Excavation and The Rhys•Ivy Company.
The event featured a structured speed-networking session where students met one-on-one with professionals representing construction, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, automotive, and other skilled trades. During each conversation, students could ask questions about the work, career paths, training requirements, and what professionals have learned throughout their careers.
Events like this are an important part of Clarkson's commitment to workforce development and community engagement. Our team regularly partners with schools and community organizations throughout the Kansas City region to provide jobsite tours, classroom presentations, career conversations, and hands-on opportunities that introduce students to the industry.
