Building Bridges at MoDOT KC’s Take Your Kid to Work Day

Late last week, the Clarkson-Radmacher Joint Venture (CRJV) welcomed nearly 30 ninth-grade students from Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) to the Improve I-70 Kansas City project for a hands-on introduction to careers in construction and transportation.
The visit was part of the National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI), a program hosted by the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and KCSP. The NSTI program is funded by the Federal Highway Administration and supported by the Missouri Department of Transportation. Its goal is to introduce high school students to transportation-related careers through interactive and educational experiences.
During the tour, students heard directly from CRJV team members about the work taking place along the I-70 corridor, the importance of the project to the region, and how each team member got their start in the construction industry. The visit included several stops along the project route, giving students a chance to ask questions and see the work in progress up close.
This tour marked the first student visit to the Improve I-70 Kansas City project, and we're proud to support programs that promote STEM education and workforce development. Experiences like this are only possible through the time, energy, and enthusiasm of our team members. Thanks to all of the volunteers who made the morning fun and successful!
