Reflecting on an Incredible 2024 at Clarkson
December 31, 2024
Earlier today, Clarkson joined city leaders, partners, and community members to celebrate the official ribbon cutting for the reopening of Colbern Road, the largest capital infrastructure project in the City of Lee's Summit history.
This transformational project addresses decades of traffic congestion, safety concerns, and infrastructure needs along Colbern Road between Northeast Douglas Street and Northwest Blue Parkway. Improvements include:
- Widened lanes for smoother, safer travel
- Updated drainage and stormwater systems
- New sidewalks and shared-use pathways for pedestrians and cyclists
- Replacement of the bridge over the railroad and creek
- Modern street lighting and landscaping
- Intersection and roundabout upgrades to improve traffic flow and safety

The project represents a remarkable collaboration between the City of Lee's Summit, design engineer Garver, and Clarkson Construction Company.
We're proud of our team's dedication and hard work in delivering these much-needed improvements and are excited for Lee's Summit residents and visitors to enjoy safer, more efficient travel along this vital corridor.
