Earlier this week, Clarkson had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion at the Associated General Contractors of America's 2023 convention in Las Vegas. The panel, Leveraging Strategic Partnerships for Successful Workforce Strategies, provided the opportunity to share some of the achievements, challenges, and lessons learned from the Kansas City International Airport New Terminal Project's Workforce Training Program.
Created by Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate and the Clark | Weitz | Clarkson joint venture team, the Workforce Training Program was designed to eliminate barriers and create pathways for Kansas City-area residents to lifelong careers in the construction industry. Upon successful completion of the three-week classroom training program, graduates were enrolled in a union pre-apprenticeship program and employed by a subcontractor on the New Terminal Project where they received hands-on training while contributing to the project's progress.
Our thanks to the AGC and The Builders AGC for inviting us to share our experience and program details.
