January 30, 2019Edgemoor Team Receives National “Innovations in Diversity” Award for New Terminal Project at Kansas City International Airport
December 15, 2020In honor of National Safety Week, we wanted to share what we do every day to help keep our crews safe. It’s our top priority to ensure the safety of our employees and our work zones. Some steps we take include:
--Reward programs for employees who catch near-misses or identify possible safety hazards – our “You See It, You Own It” program.
--Each Field Supervisor goes through first-aid and CPR/AED training on a bi-annual basis
--Daily Plan of Day and Craft Voice in Safety tours
--Each field crew member goes through a new hire orientation personally with the Safety Director
Because of these programs and efforts from our employees in 2018, we had a record safety year at Clarkson Construction Company.
In fact, our total incident rate (TIR) in 2018 was 2.03 which the national average for our field work is 3.3 We also posted a 0 Days Away Restricted Transferred (DART rate) in 2018 – meaning we had ZERO lost time and ZERO injuries that caused work restrictions.
We are also planning a fall protection safety stand down with the assistance of the Builder’s Association scheduled prior to setting girders at the Tiffany Springs bridge.
Heavy construction can be dangerous work, and we are proud that our employees look out for one another not just during safety week, but every week of the year.
