Summer Intern Spotlight: Will Skelton

In honor of National Intern Day (July 25), we're excited to spotlight our amazing interns! First up is Will Skelton from Overland Park, Kansas, who has been working hard on the Buck O'Neil Bridge project in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

"All of this is pretty new to me," Will shared. "I haven't had much hands-on experience yet, but it's been really fun to learn. It's been cool to hear things mentioned on the job site or around the office that I've learned about in the classroom, and to see them in action in the real world."

Will has witnessed significant progress on the project, which is set to be completed by the end of 2024: girders placed, piles driven, pillar caps poured, and the final arch demolition on the old bridge structure.

"Seeing the day-to-day progression of the project team has been really interesting. This kind of work definitely isn't something you see every day!"

While he'll be busy with his junior year at Kansas State University when the Buck O'Neil Bridge officially opens, Will looks forward to coming home over school breaks to drive across the completed project.
