Project Update: Holmes Street Bridge Replacement Over I-670

This past Friday and Monday, our crews made significant progress on the Holmes Street bridge replacement over I-670 in downtown Kansas City by installing the first nine girders for the new structure.

Each girder is just over 42 feet long and weighs approximately 32,000 pounds, marking important progress as construction moves ahead.

When complete, the new Holmes bridge will:

• Upgrade aging infrastructure
• Increase vertical clearance to standard height
• Improve traffic operations and safety along the Holmes Street corridor

Construction will continue into 2026, with full completion expected this summer. Stay tuned for more updates as the Holmes Street bridge project continues to take shape!
