Significant progress was made this weekend on the new Holmes Street bridge over I-670 in downtown Kansas City, as Clarkson crews completed a major girder installation over the eastbound lanes.
Between 7:00 p.m. Friday and 5:00 p.m. Sunday, our team installed 18 bridge girders, with the largest measuring nearly 80 feet in length and weighing approximately 63,000 pounds. The work was completed in less than 48 hours while I-670's eastbound lanes were full closed to allow crews to perform the installation safely and efficiently.
Work continues this weekend, with girder installation planned over the westbound lanes of I-670. Lane closures are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. this Friday (2/13). Motorists are encouraged to visit the Missouri Department of Transportation's project page for detailed closure information.
We appreciate the patience of area drivers, residents, and downtown businesses as this important infrastructure improvement moves forward. Stay tuned for additional updates as construction progresses!
