This week, Clarkson Construction is proud to join the nationwide observance of Construction Suicide Prevention Week, with our safety team leading outreach efforts at jobsites across the Kansas City region and beyond.
At Clarkson, safety is always our top priority, but it’s about more than physical safety. Hard hats, vests, and training protect us on the job, but mental health is just as critical to our overall well-being. In construction, the risks don’t end when the shift does. Mental health struggles and suicide are very real challenges in our industry, and addressing them takes honest conversations, awareness, and support.
Throughout the week, our safety team has been visiting projects to talk with crews about the importance of looking out for one another and knowing how to access resources when they’re needed. Through our Know Your Crew, Know Your Resources message, we’re encouraging employees to:
-
Look out for one another
-
Check in when something doesn’t feel right
-
Know when and how to connect with available resources
To make support simple and accessible, hardhat stickers with QR codes were distributed, giving our teams direct access to mental health programs and Clarkson’s Employee Assistance Program.
We also introduced the hardhat signing pledge, starting with President Billy Clarkson adding the first signature. Each signature represents a personal commitment to take mental health seriously and to support one another, just as we do with safety on the jobsite.
We’re grateful to our dedicated safety professionals, our crews, and our project partners who joined these important conversations this week.
If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988 anytime, or visit the Construction Suicide Prevention Week website for resources.
