Inspiring the Next Generation of Builders at Dozer Day KC
October 31, 2025

Earlier today, as part of our ongoing STEM and construction career outreach for the Improve I-70 KC project, we welcomed more than twenty high school freshmen from the Lee's Summit R-7 School District, all young women who recently completed career aptitude testing and showed strong potential for a future in construction.
The students heard an overview of the Improve I-70 KC project, learned about our community outreach efforts, and explored the wide range of careers available in the construction industry. They also had the opportunity to hear from an all-women panel of construction professionals, who shared their career journeys, real-world experience, day-to-day responsibilities, and valuable advice for those beginning to explore the industry.
A huge thank you to our panelists for sharing their insight, energy, and encouragement. We hope today's visit inspires these bright young women to continue pursing careers in construction -- and we look forward to seeing some of them on our projects in the future!
If you work with students and are interested in scheduling a classroom visit, presentation, or hardhat site tour, we'd love to connect! Reach out to Kate Sweeten, Improve I-70 KC Stakeholder Coordinator, at kate.sweeten@crjv.com to learn more.
