De Soto Local Road Improvements Project Named Outstanding Engineering Achievement
May 27, 2025
This past weekend, our crews marked an exciting milestone on the Improve I-70 KC project with the successful installation of 34 massive girders on the new 23rd Street bridge.
Each girder measured between 75 and 81 feet long and weighed between 76,000 and 82,000 pounds. Installation began at noon on Friday and wrapped up by 4:00 p.m. Saturday, a true testament to the careful planning, coordination, and technical expertise of the team.
The 23rd Street bridge replacement is just one of the many key components of this transformative infrastructure effort, which includes replacing 15 bridges and rehabilitating 7 more across the corridor. We're proud to be a part of the Clarkson-Radmacher joint venture team delivering this important work for the Kansas City region.
A huge thank you to everyone traveling through the I-70 corridor this weekend for your patience, safe driving, and continued support as we work to improve safety, capacity, and connectivity for all!
