The Kansas City International Airport (MCI) New Single Terminal & Parking Project has been named the 2025 Design-Build Project of the Year by the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). The recognition was announced during the annual Design-Build Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, celebrating the nation's most outstanding examples of collaboration, innovation, and design-build excellence.

Delivered by design-builder Clark | Weitz | Clarkson in partnership with SOM and Henderson Engineers, the $1.5 billion progressive design-build project replaced three aging terminals with a single, state-of-the-art facility. The team completed the project 60 days ahead of schedule and $45 million under budget, setting a new standard for efficiency and partnership in large-scale infrastructure.

In addition to the Project of the Year honor, the New Terminal also received:

Trailblazer in Inclusive Growth (Large Project)
Merit Award (Aviation)

Designed with both function and community in mind, the terminal showcases 19 permanent art installations by local artists, features 80 percent local vendors, and includes $320 million in contracts awarded to minority- and women-owned firms. The result is a modern, inclusive facility that reflects Kansas City's identity and enhances the traveler experience.
