De Soto Local Road Improvements Progressive Design-Build Project Named MAASTO Award Winner

The De Soto Local Road Improvements project continues to earn recognition, taking home the Judge’s Award at the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Kansas Chapter’s Annual Concrete Construction Awards last week. This honor marks the sixth award for the transformational project, which was designed to deliver the critical infrastructure needed to support the Panasonic Energy Co. electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing facility in De Soto, Kansas.
Completed in 2024, the project upgraded more than four miles of roadway, transforming a two-lane asphalt road into a modern, divided four-lane corridor. Key improvements include new curb and gutter, bike lanes and sidewalks, and modern roadway lighting
These upgrades enhance safety, expand capacity, and improve access to one of the region’s most significant new industrial developments.
