Clarkson in the Community: City of De Soto Touch-a-Truck

On  Saturday, July 15, the Clarkson team joined the City of De Soto, Kansas, for their first-ever Touch-a-Truck event at Miller Park.

Featuring fire trucks, police cruisers, snow plows, construction equipment, and more, the event provided De Soto residents an opportunity explore the different types of equipment being used by city employees and construction workers in their community. Kids and their families were able to climb into the various trucks, learn more about what each type of vehicle is used for, and enjoy popsicles provided by the local Rotary group (not to mention, plenty of horn honking).

Clarkson provided a 70,000-pound articulated truck for the event and was excited to help plenty of young operators-in-training climb into the cab for a peek behind the wheel. Additionally, this gave our project team an excellent opportunity to share more about the work taking place on the Kansas Department of Transportation's progressive design build project and K-10/Kill Creek Bridge redeck project, both located within city limits.
