De Soto Local Road Improvements Project Honored for Excellence in Kansas Infrastructure
February 28, 2025
Earlier this week, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Design-Build Project, the largest project in MoDOT's history. We are thrilled to be a part of the Improve 70 Alliance, a joint venture between Emery Sapp & Sons (ESS) and Clarkson Construction, in collaboration with HNTB Corporation and Bartlett & West, Inc.
Awarded a $600 million fixed-cost contract in November 2024, this project is a key component of Missouri's efforts to widen and modernize I-70, enhancing safety, connectivity, and efficiency for travelers across the state.
Project Highlights
- Expanding I-70: Adding a third lane in each direction from Warrenton to I-64 in Wentzville, replacing the existing lanes and shoulders with full-depth concrete pavement.
- Interchange Improvements: Upgrading interchanges at I-70 and I-64/Route 61.
- Local Enhancements: Improving interchanges and outer roads in Foristell, Wright City, Warrenton, and Route Z.
- Railroad Bridge Realignment: Adjusting the alignment at the railroad bridge between Wentzville Parkway and Route Z.
- Expanding I-64: Adding a third lane in both directions from I-70 to Route K.
As two companies founded in Missouri, ESS and Clarkson bring decades of local knowledge and regional expertise to this historic project. Our teams are committed to executing this complex design-build project with precision, collaboration, safety, and a focus on improving Missouri's infrastructure for future generations.
