Clarkson & Global Interns Gain Hands-On Experience Across Projects, Departments, and KC
June 22, 2026
Kate Sweeten, Clarkson's Director of Communications, has been named one of the Kansas City Business Journal's 20 to Know in Construction, recognizing professionals making an impact across Kansas City's construction industry.
Kate leads Clarkson's internal and external communication efforts, helping tell the stories of Clarkson's people, projects, safety initiatives, community involvement, and more. As a one-person communications team, her role spans everything from jobsite photography and digital storytelling to award submissions, employee communications, community service, and workforce development. She also currently serves as the Stakeholder Coordinator for the Improve I-70 Kansas City project, where she helps connect the project and construction industry with students, educators, community organizations, and other stakeholders throughout the region.
Kate first joined the Clarkson team in 2019 as the on-site communications lead for the Clark | Weitz | Clarkson Joint Venture team delivering the award-winning Kansas City International Airport New Terminal Project. Following the completion and opening of the terminal, she transitioned into her current position as Clarkson's first Director of Communications since the company's founding in 1880.
Congratulations to all of this year's 20 to Know in Construction honorees who are helping moving Kansas City's construction industry forward!
